Reading the comment threads, it’s fascinating to trace the industry’s shifting the legal battlegrounds from “vicarious and contributory liability” (which can be defended under the precedents of the Sony case that ruled that VCRs should be allowed to timeshift network television) to “intent to induce infringement.”
