Brent Simmons on corporate developers

Brent Simmons: “My Wildly Incorrect Bias About Corporate Engineers.” Great blog post from Brent, who I had a beer with once, long ago, in Seattle, and whose work in the early days of this blog I frequently followed and linked to. (I had written an AppleScript based blog posting client for my old blog platform, … Continue reading “Brent Simmons on corporate developers”

Congrats to Brent and Sheila

Everyone’s favorite local independent software development house, Ranchero Software (otherwise known as Brent and Sheila Simmons), won a MacWorld Editor’s Choice Award for their NetNewsWire product. NetNewsWire is my favorite RSS aggregator on any platform, and I can write blog posts in it too! Congrats to Brent and Sheila, who are truly living the dream.

NetNewsGatorWire

The rumors were true: NewsGator is acquiring NetNewsWire from Brent Simmons’ Ranchero Software—and hiring Brent as a product architect. Big congrats to Brent. Prescience

WriteTheWeb: The writeable web: lather, rinse, repeat (an interview with NetNewsWire creator Brent Simmons). I’m a few days late picking up this item; the last time I went to look at it I couldn’t reach the website. But it’s still good reading on a bunch of levels: application developers, bloggers, Internet philosophy, and on. I … Continue reading “Prescience”

Esta is doing her Thanksgiving blogging a day early, and gives thanks for a long list, including the keiretsu, our Pop-pop, and Parliament, among others. I’m thankful too, for: My loving and patient wife Lisa; Esta: her encouragement, wit, and blog; My Pop-pop, for his enduring humor, strength, and everything else; My parents and in-laws … Continue reading “Thanksblogging”
