Ned Jarrett gained national prominence in the sport of auto racing. He drove race cars from 1953 through 1966. Some of his accomplishments included winning national driving championships in 1957 and 1958 in the NASCAR Sportsman division, and Grand National championships in 1961 and 1965. He was inducted into the auto racing Hall of Fame in 1972. After retiring as a driver in 1966, Ned started a new career in broadcasting in motorsports, working for Motor Racing Network and CBS Sports. In 1978 he started his own syndicated radio program, and in 1985 became host of a weekly 30 minutes television program called INSIDE NASCAR. His two sons, Glenn and Dale, followed in their dad’s footsteps as race drivers.1
