Major B. Freeman Sr., 88, of 265 Jenkins Valley Road, Alexander, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at St. Joseph’s Hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Freeman was born in Madison County and was a son of the late Dave and Sallie Freeman. He was retired after 39 years with Greyhound Bus Lines and attended Macedonia Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Grace Davenport Freeman; a son, Major B. Freeman Jr., and his wife Sharon; and two sisters, Linda Jarrett of Marshall and Hattie Ponder of Leicester.

Services were held at 2 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home and the Rev. Lee Roy Denton officiated. Burial was at Green Hills Cemetary. His family received friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church.
